Ed qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in 2003. He worked in farm practice from 2003 to 2015, initially in the South East, then Cheshire and then various parts of the South West. During this time, he gained a Master’s Degree in Bovine Reproduction (DBR) from the University of Liverpool, bringing together areas of his main clinical interest: dairy cow fertility. Ed is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Bovine Reproduction and has published several papers in this area.

Ed has had the opportunity to work with a large range of different farm sizes and systems across the UK, and thoroughly enjoys the challenge of working with farmers and discussing their aims and priorities. Ed completed a PhD at Nottingham University in 2023, investigating evidence and data related to dairy cow fertility. He has worked for Improve International since 2016 in various roles (mainly related to the challenge of the control of bovine TB), has represented several other industry bodies in an advisory and teaching capacity and continues to work part time in clinical (mainly dairy) practice.
