FAQs

Your questions answered

How do I access the Conference Online?

The OV Conference Online will be managed within a safe and secure Conference Space; ticket holders will be emailed log in details for this in the week before the Conference. Links for live broadcasts will then be made available within the Conference Space, and presentations will be streamed using Zoom. These can be watched on any device with an internet connection, though for the best experience we do recommend using a desktop computer or a laptop.

During the week of the Conference, you will receive a daily email notification reminding you of each day’s programme. There will be 6 talks per day, and plenty of breaks. You can view the full programme by clicking here.

Once logged in to the Conference Space, you will not only be able to join any live presentations, but also watch those that have already taken place (every presentation will be recorded and made available to watch within the next two working days). In addition to this, there will be forums in which to talk to other delegates, as well as exclusive content and offers in our Sponsors’ Area.

Why is this year’s OV Conference being held online?

The decision to move this year’s event online was made as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The OV Conference is an important event in the calendar for Official Veterinarians, and we recognised that it was vital for us to adapt in order to help you to continue learning and gaining CPD safely. Speakers, sponsors and delegates alike have so far welcomed the decision, and we are certain that the OV Conference Online will be just as successful, enjoyable and informative as the face-to-face event would have been.

What do I require in order to connect to the live-streamed presentations?

A stable internet connection is required (PC/Mac: minimum 10 Mbit ADSL or fibre; smartphone: 4G connection). It is preferable to use an ADSL or fibre connection, however if you are intending to use your smartphone/4G network, we would recommend that you first check your data plan (Gigabytes available) to avoid incurring unpleasant charges. We also recommend that you download the Zoom app on the device that you plan to use.

In the week before the Conference, you will be emailed detailed instructions for logging in to the Conference Space and attending the live presentations. At this point, it will also be possible to access a fictitious presentation to check that everything is working properly. We recommend that you read the instructions carefully and access the trial presentation to be sure of being able to participate in the Conference without technical problems.

However, if you do encounter any technical issues or difficulties, there will be plenty of help available, both before and during the Conference.

How many CPD hours will I be able to claim?

The maximum number of hours that you can claim from attendance at the OV Conference Online is 25 hours over the whole week. Delegates attending just the equine stream can claim a total of 4.5 CPD hours from the 6 presentations on the Friday (2nd October).

Can this CPD be used as part of my OCQ(V) revalidation?

Yes. You can log in to your Personal Training Dashboard at https://www.improve-ov.com/login/ and update your CPD log with relevant CPD at any time.

Do I have to be an OV to attend the Conference?

No, anyone with an interest can attend.

Will I still get the chance to network with colleagues and speakers?

There will be plenty of networking opportunities available throughout the week. These include:

  • live Q&A sessions with speakers after each presentation
  • online forums within the Conference Space, where you can talk to colleagues
  • 4 workshops
  • a Sponsors’ Area, where you will be able to contact our sponsors and make the most of exclusive offers

How do I book my place?

You can book your ticket online through this website (click here to go to the Tickets page), email us at ov.conference@improveinternational.com, or phone us on 01793 759159.

How will I join the Conference?

In the week before the Conference, you will be emailed with your personal login details for the Conference Space. Recordings of each day’s presentations will be uploaded within the next two working days, and these will be available on the Conference Space for you to access for 3 months, until 31st December 2020. This means that if you miss any live talks, you will be able to catch up later.

What will my ticket include?

Full Conference ticket holders will have access to:

  • all of the live sessions during the week, including 30 presentations and 4 workshops

Full Conference ticket holders will have access to all of the recordings, and Equine ticket holders will have access to all recordings from the equine stream. You can access recordings by logging in to the Conference Space using your personal log in details.

How long will the content be available for?

Where will I find the certificates for the presentations I have attended?
