Sam Holland| BSc BVMS PhD MRCVS
Monday - 28 Sep
Sam graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh in 1995 and went on to have a scientific career in both academia and industry, getting her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge in 2002. A change of career led her to Glasgow Vet School and following graduation she worked in both mixed and small animal practice as an associate practitioner, before setting up and running a small animal practice in Cornwall.
She joined APHA in late 2016 as a Senior Veterinary Inspector based in Truro, where her areas of responsibility focused on border controls. Sam’s interest in exotic diseases led her to complete an MVetSci in Conservation Medicine with the University of Edinburgh. Her current post within APHA is as a Veterinary Advisor in the Veterinary Exotic Notifiable Disease Unit, which gives advice to field vets, policymakers and stakeholders on exotic disease. In this role, Sam is the veterinary lead for rabies control and she is looking forward to sharing the current rabies picture in Europe.
