Claire qualified from the University of Bristol in 2007 and spent six years as an assistant in small animal practice. She joined the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (now APHA) in 2013 as a field vet based in Hampshire and got involved in a variety of areas, from bovine TB, welfare and exotic notifiable disease to animal by-products, zoo inspections and imports. Claire also got involved in avian influenza outbreaks, both at a local level on-farm and at a national level in the National Disease Control Centre. She took on her current role as a Veterinary Advisor for TB policy in 2016, working in a multi-disciplinary team in Defra’s bovine TB programme in London.
