Ana Velloso Alvarez| DVM, DACVS-LA, PhD
Ana graduated in 2010 from the University of Leon, Spain. She did a rotating internship at the equine teaching hospital of Leon University for a year and another year in Belgium where she enrolled in a rotating internship at Equine Clinic de Morette, Belgium. Her dream was to enrol in an Equine Surgery Residency so she decided to expand her options and explore the American continent. She completed a surgery internship at Milton Equine Hospital in Canada for a year and a surgery internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, in Lexington, Kentucky, where she had one of the best experiences of her life.
In 2016, Ana started her residency in equine surgery at Auburn University and became DACVS-LA in 2020, at the same time that she finished a PhD studying equine osteoarthritis and the use of regenerative therapies. In October of 2020, Ana moved to Spain to work as a professor and an equine surgeon at the University CEU Cardenal Herrera of Valencia, where right now she is the chief of the equine section of the teaching hospital.
